Connect WorkMemoir to your AI assistant

Ask about your memoir from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any MCP client. Read-only, scoped, and revocable.

Connector URL

https://www.workmemoir.com/api/mcp

Your assistant sends you here to sign in and approve access in the browser. Your password is never shared with the assistant, and every connection can be disconnected at any time.

What your assistant can read

  • Your memoir — search, list and open your saved entries (memoir:read).
  • Your goals and current role — the role, employer, team, manager and active goals you recorded (goals:read).
  • AI answers — a grounded answer over your memoir with its sources. Each answer uses one AI action from your plan (ask).

It cannot change anything. There is no write scope: no tool can create, edit or delete an entry. Your assistant also gets read-only resources (your career context, goals and individual memos) and a few prompt templates, such as a self-review or STAR story.

Set it up

Claude (web and desktop)

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the connector URL, and approve the scopes you want to share. Claude starts the OAuth flow automatically.

Claude Code

Add the server from a terminal, then authenticate inside the session:

claude mcp add --transport http workmemoir https://www.workmemoir.com/api/mcp

Run /mcp, select workmemoir, then Authenticate and approve the scopes in the browser.

ChatGPT

Enable developer mode in ChatGPT, then create a custom connector with the connector URL. ChatGPT requires OAuth, so it opens the consent screen on first use. Listing in ChatGPT's public connector directory is approval-gated and pending — until then, connect by URL.

Gemini CLI

Add the server to ~/.gemini/settings.json (or your project's settings), then run the CLI and complete the OAuth prompt:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "workmemoir": {
      "url": "https://www.workmemoir.com/api/mcp",
      "type": "http"
    }
  }
}

Any other MCP client

Point it at the connector URL. The client discovers the authorization server from /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource, registers itself, and opens the same consent screen. There is no static token to paste.

Disconnect any time

Open Settings → Connected assistants to see every live connection and disconnect one. Disconnecting takes effect on the assistant's next request, even if it still holds a token.

If it doesn't work

  • “Unauthorized” or a sign-in loop — reconnect from the assistant; the connection may have been disconnected, or the token may have expired.
  • “Too many requests” — each connection is limited to 60 requests a minute. Wait a moment and retry.
  • “No results” — the assistant only answers from what you have recorded. Capture more memos, or ask a narrower question.
  • “Not granted the permission” — the connection was approved without that scope. Reconnect and allow it.
